What issues were discussed at the meeting of the Committee on Science, Education and Health?

Today, on September 27, a meeting of the Senate Committee of the Oliy Majlis on Science, Education and Healthcare was held.

It was attended by senators, members of the Committee's Expert Group, chairmen of the standing commissions of the Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regional and Tashkent city Kengashes of people's deputies, representatives of ministries and departments, as well as media workers.

The meeting preliminarily discussed issues to be considered at the next plenary meeting of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, in particular, the Law "On Amendments and Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Connection with Improving the System of Protection of the Rights of Persons Suffering from Narcological Diseases."

As it was noted, during the development of the Law, a deep analysis was not carried out, law enforcement practice, the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan and other national legislative acts and generally recognized norms of international law were not studied.

The essence of the new norm on “involuntary treatment” being introduced into the Law and its difference from the concept of “compulsory treatment” have not been disclosed.

Also, during the meeting, the report of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the execution of the State budget of the Republic of Uzbekistan following the results of the first half of 2021 was considered.

During the discussion, information was heard from senior officials of the ministries of preschool education, public education, higher and secondary specialized education, health care and innovative development on the execution of the State budget.
