Apple invests € 1 billion in construction of a chip development center in Germany

Apple company plans to invest more than € 1 billion in the construction of a new 5G network equipment chip development center in Munich. This is stated in company's weblog.

Munich Center with an area of   30 thousand sq. m is expected to be opened by the end of 2022. The center will operate on 100% renewable energy sources. Apple will hire hundreds of employees to improve the wireless technologies that will power the chips for the 5G network. If now the EU accounts for less than 10% of world chip production, then by 2030 the share should grow to at least 20%.
