Carrot prices in Uzbekistan have risen at a record high

From March 17 to April 7, 2023, the average wholesale price of carrots of last year's harvest in Uzbekistan increased from 4,000 to 6,000 soums per 1 kg, that is, by exactly 50% in three weeks. This was reported by EastFruit specialists.

It is noted that in the spring of 2022, the first large batches of fresh ("young") are on the wholesale markets of the capital of Uzbekistan carrots appeared on the market on March 20, and in 2021, the first wholesale batches of this product entered the market from about the middle of March.

"However, even by the end of last weekend, large batches of fresh ("young") did not enter the wholesale markets of the country's capital carrots, which means that the arrival on the market of large batches of this type of vegetables is significantly delayed. Currently, prices for carrots of last year's harvest are growing for the third week in a row, during this period wholesale prices have increased 1.5 times and reached a record level,” the study says.

The influence of foreign markets on such price increases in the last few weeks was not the main factor, and such dynamics was formed mainly by the ratio of supply and demand in the domestic market.
