Effective youth policy is an important factor in the successful fight against terrorism-extremism

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov addressed a high-level international conference titled "International and Regional Cooperation in the Field of Border Security and Border Control to Combat Terrorism and Prevent Terrorist Movement" in Dushanbe.

Participants of the forum were briefed on the initiatives of Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to consolidate international efforts in fighting global and regional threats to security.

In particular, conference participants were shown the head of State's proposal to create a unified electronic system of cyber-terrorism in Central Asia, whose aim is to develop the exchange of experience and information, research and best practices in the area of cyber-terrorism.

Successful further implementation of the counter-terrorism strategy in the region requires constant monitoring and critical evaluation of the implementation of the Joint Plan of Action and strengthening mechanisms of coordination of joint actions of the Central Asian countries. In this regard, the importance of implementing the initiative of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to open in our region an office of the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Office and ensure its close relations with the relevant international and regional organizations was emphasized.

An effective youth policy is an essential condition for successfully combating terrorism and extremism. With a view to encouraging mutual understanding between people of different ages and seeking joint solutions to the most pressing problems of our children, the President of Uzbekistan proposed an intergenerational dialogue. He expressed readiness to hold the first meeting in that format as part of the Forum of Young Leaders of our country in Samarkand in April 2023.
