Egypt and Qatar became SCO's communication partner

On September 14, 2022, in Tashkent, as part of the preparation for the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, a ceremony was held to sign memorandum on granting the Arab Republic of Egypt and the state of Qatar the status of SCO communication partner.
The documents were signed by SCO Secretary General Zhang Ming, First Deputy Foreign Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt Hamdi Sanad Loza and Qatar State Foreign Minister Sultan bin Saad al-Murayhi.
Deputy Minister of foreign affairs of Uzbekistan Furqat Sidikov took part in the event.
The memorandum provides for cooperation between SCO and the above countries in regional security and stability, trade and investment, energy, ICT, agriculture, transport and communications, culture, science and technology, education, health, tourism and other areas.
The status of a partner state gives the organization the right to participate in events within the SCO at the invitation of member states.
Memoranda come into force from the day they are signed.
Work on the signing of memoranda was organized by Uzbekistan within the framework of the SCO presidency and in order to implement the relevant decisions of the Council of Heads of state of the organization.
