It has been proposed to build a plant sanctuary on Mars

Paul Smith, an engineer at the University of Bristol in the UK, believes that such a refuge could be organized under a huge dome on the surface of Mars. It is reported that the reserve can serve as a psychological refuge and botanical garden for those who will be on the Red Planet.
The expert stressed the need for new colonies on Mars, saying that the uncontrolled growth of the Earth's population is causing serious damage to the planet's ecosystem.
"Of course, conditions on Mars are significantly different from those on Earth. Temperatures here are much lower, the planet's surface is drier and has a completely different atmosphere. However, scientists predict the presence of ice reservoirs beneath the planet's surface," the report said.
If these and other resources of Mars can be used, it is possible to build a reserve on the planet under the dome. It is also important to consider that local rocks are rich in certain elements that help grow terrestrial plants.
But Martian soil lacks a number of important trace elements, including microorganisms that enrich the soil.
