It is proposed to increase the amount of compensation for the discharge of wastewater in excess of the norm

At more than 500 enterprises in Uzbekistan, water treatment facilities do not meet the standard, and some do not exist at all. This became known during the acquaintance of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev with the presentation of environmental measures.
The presentation notes that due to the smaller amount of compensation, it has become more profitable to pay compensation than to install a water treatment plant. In this regard, a proposal was made to increase compensation payments for exceeding the standard.
The head of state also instructed to organize the work of the environmental control inspectorate. In particular, the country generates 7 million tons of household waste per year. Of these, only more than 2 million tons are processed. The greenhouse gas generated from the remaining emissions and blue waters harm nature.
A project to extract 15 megawatts of electricity from waste has been launched at an old landfill in Okhangaran. The head of state stressed the need to expand this experience and establish waste recycling and alternative energy production at other landfills.
