President of Uzbekistan received deputy secretary general of the UN

On September 14, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Deputy UN secretary-general for political affairs and peace building Rosemary DiCarlo, who came to our country to participate in the Samarkand summit of the SCO.
A detailed exchange of views was held on promising areas of practical cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UN, current international issues, work on achieving the goals of Sustainable Development in our country by 2030.
Rosemary DiKarlo thanked President Shavkat Mirziyoyev for the warm welcome. Delivering a greeting from UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, he expressed his support for the reforms carried out in 2022-2026 within the framework of the new Uzbekistan development strategy.
In subsequent years, Uzbekistan's participation in UN structures was noted with pleasure. At the initiative of our country, five resolutions of the UN General Assembly aimed at promoting regional cooperation and interdependence were adopted.
It was emphasized that Uzbekistan chaired the 32nd Regional Conference of the FAO on Europe and Central Asia in 2020-2021, joined the UN Council on Human Rights, plans to hold the UNESCO World Conference on the education and education of small-age children and the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
The parties agreed to strengthen cooperation in mitigating the consequences of the Aral Sea disaster, implementing projects to establish peace in Afghanistan and to support the Afghan people, promoting sustainable development in Central Asia and strengthening mutual ties.
