Progress on Uzbekistan's accession to WTO discussed

On 28 December this year under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Hodjaev the regular meeting of the Interagency Commission on work with the World Trade Organization (WTO).
In the course of meeting the results of works carried out in 2022 are summed up and main tasks for 2023 within accession to WTO in the context of the ministries and agencies involved.
The importance of taking complex measures on completion of all main negotiations on accession till the end of 2023 as well as acceleration of work on harmonization of national legislation with WTO norms and rules and introduction of new standards in accordance with the Message of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Oliy Majlis and the people of Uzbekistan was emphasized.
The meeting also discussed the current status of the country's accession to the WTO and preparations for the organization of the 6th meeting of the Working Party on Uzbekistan's accession to the Organization. It was announced that all necessary documents have been submitted to WTO members for the organization of planned negotiations. In addition, bilateral talks with WTO member states and consultations with the Secretariat of the Organization are held on a regular basis for the timely implementation of previously reached agreements.
Based on the results of the analysis the members of the Interdepartmental Commission were given specific instructions on comprehensive preparation for the 6th meeting of the Working Group, ensuring timely implementation of all tasks and increasing the quality level of prepared documents. Also the heads of relevant ministries and agencies have been instructed to develop individual plans for the preparation of all necessary documents and the completion of bilateral negotiations with WTO member countries with specific deadlines.
