The largest wind power plant to be built in Karakalpakstan

The delegation of Uzbekistan and the company of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia "ACWA Power" signed an Agreement "On the implementation of a wind power plant project."On May 3 of this year, negotiations were held between the Delegation of Uzbekistan headed by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov and the Ministry of Energy.During the dialogue, the parties came to an agreement on the construction of a wind farm with a capacity of 1,500 MW, which will be considered as the largest wind farm in the Central Asia and one of the largest in the world.The project is expected to meet the electricity demand of about 4 million households and offset about 2.5 million tons of carbon dioxide per year that will directly contribute to the Government's goals of significantly increasing electricity generation using renewable energy sources to meet growing demand.The project is aimed at supporting the efforts of the government of Uzbekistan to expand the country's energy balance in accordance with the ongoing strategic reforms in the energy sector.Additionally, ACWA Power is also an investor in two wind power projects in Bukhara and Navoi, with a combined power generation capacity of 1000 MW. Thus, Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and investment agreements were signed.Besides, the Saudi company is implementing a project in the Syrdarya to build a highly efficient gas-fired power plant with a capacity of 1,500 MW.
