Uzbekistan has become a «model country» for the region - Uzra Zeya

Uzbek Foreign Minister Vladimir Norov held a meeting with the United States Under Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy and Human Rights, Uzra Zeya. During the meeting, the sides discussed topical issues of cooperation between the two countries in the sphere of civil security, the fight against terrorism and human trafficking.
US Undersecretary of State highlighted the progress achieved in Uzbekistan in the implementation of democratic reforms, including protection of human rights and freedoms, elimination of forced and child labour, ensuring freedom of religion, increasing transparency in justice, strengthening freedom of speech and press. In her words, Uzbekistan has become a "model country" for the region, vividly demonstrating that it is possible to implement cardinal reforms in a very short period, resolving longstanding problems radically.
Ms Zeya separately underlined that Uzbekistan's reform course fully coincides with the key priorities of the State Department. This has ensured a high dynamism and confidence-building nature of bilateral relations.
The two sides have also expressed commitment to enhancing cooperation based on principles of mutual respect, confidence and consideration of each other's interests. Washington's willingness to provide comprehensive assistance to the Uzbek side in achieving the goals outlined in the Strategy of New Uzbekistan for 2022-2026 has been separately underscored.
