Afghan refugees arrive in France

A few days ago, they were among thousands of people trying to leave Kabul. Now they have become one of the 2,600 Afghans accepted by France.

They are located on the outskirts of Lyon, France – 86 men, women and children. But none of them wants to speak openly, because they are very afraid for their families who have remained in Afghanistan. In his case, this is a wife and three children, including a newborn. Amid was engaged in agricultural research and worked for a French company.

«Helmand is the center of the Taliban. The fighting lasted for almost 20 days. As a result, they destroyed my buildings, killed thousands of people, destroyed the university building, the mosque ... I am 34 years old and I have not seen anything like what happened in the last two weeks», – says one of the Afghan refugees.

The association, known as the "Refugee Forum", helps the newly arrived Afghan people. This evacuation operation will forever remain in the memory of the director.

«The stories of ordinary people that we encounter in our daily work become a big story written before our eyes. We must not forget what it means to be a fugitive. Often, the right to asylum is the last thing a person has when he loses everything else. Some have only the clothes that they were wearing», – Jean-Francois Semin, director of the Refugee Forum Association.

These people will stay here for another week. The French immigration service will most likely take care of the asylum seekers without exception. He promised to find places for them in special centers. The rest must build their lives in a new place.
