The Foreign Ministry hosted a meeting with US congressmen

Issues on rendering humanitarian aid to Afghanistan were discussed.

On October 11, 2021, the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan, Ismatulla Irgashev, held a meeting with a delegation of the US House of Representatives headed by Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee Gregory Meeks.

The meeting discussed the current state and prospects of further development of the Uzbek-American cooperation in the priority areas of the bilateral agenda.

Special attention is paid to the situation in Afghanistan, in particular the humanitarian situation, as well as joint measures for the economic reconstruction of this country.

As noted, Uzbekistan is interested in establishing peace and stability in Afghanistan, involving the country in regional economic processes, including through the implementation of large infrastructure projects.

The congressmen emphasized the active participation of Uzbekistan in organizing the evacuation of citizens of foreign countries from Afghanistan, in the implementation of humanitarian aid to the Afghan people.
