11 types of documents for further expanding Uzbek-Tajik cooperation

During the visit of Emomali Rahmon, President of Tajikistan, a ceremony was held to begin construction of the Yavan hydroelectric power station on the Zarafshan River. At the end of the high-level negotiations, there was a document signing and exchange ceremony.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President Emomali Rahmon pressed a symbolic button to commence construction, giving green light. The facility will be the first major bilateral energy project. The modern 140-megawatt plant will play an important role in ensuring energy security, water and agricultural sustainability of the two countries.

The project will ensure to strengthen the scientific and production capacity of the industry, provide thousands of homes and new businesses with "green" energy.

The high-level negotiations ended with the signing and exchange of documents.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon have signed the historic Declaration on Strengthening Eternal Friendship and Alliance. In addition, 11 documents gearing towards further expanding multifaceted Uzbek-Tajik cooperation at the level of governments, ministries and departments were in the signed list.

Particularly:

"Roadmap" for further strengthening and expanding cooperation in the field of industrial cooperation;

Agreement between the Ministries of Culture on cooperation in the field of culture and arts for 2022-2023;

"Roadmap" for the development of bilateral cooperation between the Jizzakh region of Uzbekistan and the Sughd region of Tajikistan;

Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of environmental protection and rational water use;

Memorandum of Cooperation in the Silk Road.
