Alley around the Shota Rustaveli statue will be reconstructed

Jahongir Ortikhojaev, khokim of Tashkent city, met with Georgian Ambassador to Uzbekistan Zurab Abdushelishvili and consented to reconstruct the alley around the statue of Shota Rustaveli. Currently, the work is underway on reconstruction.

The Georgian Prime Minister is expected to visit Uzbekistan soon. This was announced on May 27 during a meeting between the mayor of Tashkent Jahongir Ortikhojayev and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Uzbekistan Zurab Abdushelishvili, the press service of the city administration reports.

During the visit, it is planned to sign memoranda of understanding between Tashkent and Tbilisi on cooperation, as well as cooperation between the two countries' academies of arts.

Parties also agreed to reconstruct the alley around the statue of Shota Rustaveli in Tashkent.

The statue of Shota Rustaveli is located at the intersection of Shota Rustaveli and Glinka streets (on the opposite side of the former Babur Park).

According to the khokim of Tashkent, a project is underway to reconstruct Shota Rustaveli Street, including the statue. In the process of project implementation, the opinion and recommendations of the high-ranking guest are taken into account.
