Almaty hosted SPECA economic forum

On November 16-17, 2022 the UN Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA) convened with the support of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific and the UN Economic Commission for Europe held an economic forum in Almaty. Representatives of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade and other ministries and departments of Uzbekistan took part in the event, which was held offline and online.

The forum focused on development of cooperation strategies in priority areas, such as economic recovery after pandemic COVID-19, economic changes and sustainable growth in SPECA region, sustainable energy exchange, digital transformation, gender equality, empowerment of women and other areas.

At the high level plenary session the delegation of Uzbekistan discussed the projects carried out in our country within the SPECA program as well as digital transformation of economy, diversification of foreign trade, development of alternative energy, environmental protection, gender equality, regional and interregional interdependence. The delegation of Uzbekistan also delivered a presentation on the reforms implemented in developing and strengthening the international transport corridors "China - Kyrgyzstan - Uzbekistan", "Termez - Mazar-e-Sharif - Kabul - Peshawar - Karachi", "Uzbekistan - Turkmenistan - Iran - India".
