COUNTRIES AROUND THE WORLD ARE SUSPENDING THE USE OF THE ASTRAZENECA VACCINE

More than two months after pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca and Oxford University scientists released their COVID-19 vaccine, countries in Europe and elsewhere are pausing its use amid disconcerting reports that a small number of recipients have experienced blood clots, some of them fatal. Austrian authorities suspended the use of the vaccine after one of the vaccinated patients in Austria died, and the other developed pulmonary embolism - blockage of the vessel by a torn off thrombus. Denmark, Norway, Iceland, Italy, and other countries followed the example of Austria after that case.It is noted that the pause in the use of the drug will last until the European Medicines Agency (EMA) clarifies whether the vaccine actually causes blood clots, "RIA Novosti" reports.
