Customs system is a bridge connecting Uzbekistan to the world economy

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev is holding a meeting on the priorities for further enhancing the customs administration in 2022 and making the sector a corruption-free system.

“Over the past five years, the country's foreign trade turnover has doubled - from $ 24 billion US in 2016 to $ 42 billion US in 2021. Customs system is a bridge connecting Uzbekistan to the world economy. If this system does not work properly and transparently, it will hinder entrepreneurship, investment, and public discontent. Hence, we have launched major reforms in this area in 2019”, the President said at the beginning of the meeting.

Including:

"green corridors" have been introduced at customs posts, through which 95% of passengers and 75% of cargo pass, now;

60 types of permits, previously obtained from 12 agencies, were transferred to electronic form through a "yagona darcha";

The time of customs clearance has been reduced to 10 times, as a result.

Moreover, the five-year Development Strategy envisages boosting exports to $ 30 billion US and the number of foreign tourists to 7 million.

"It's a big target. To this end, the customs system must be change from thoroughly. According to my assignment, the new chairman of the committee contemplated with the staff, the population and the entrepreneurs face to face in the direct posts and studied each issue meticulously. The governors need to perceive this, i. e, customs posts are the face of our state, where the first impression begins. Depending on the customs post, the aesthetics of each governor is assessed. These offices should be surrounded by smooth roads, planted trees and flowers, and favorable conditions for the population”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev claimed.
