Department of Cultural and Humanitarian Relations, Tourism and Sports was launched in MFA

In order to further expand cooperation with international organizations in the fields of culture, science and education, health, sports and tourism, humanitarian relations, the Department of Cultural and Humanitarian Relations, Tourism and Sports was established within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The new division will play a coordinating role in the implementation of the foreign policy tasks of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the specified areas, ensuring the active position of Uzbekistan in the global dialogue of civilizations and promoting a positive image of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Participates in the search for and return of national cultural and scientific heritage of Uzbekistan stored in the funds, archives and collections of foreign museums, including the return of duplicates of the originals.

The department assist in implementing joint projects and expanding cooperation on studying and presenting the Uzbek language, culture, history, and literature abroad. It takes measures to organize students' production practice in areas within the authority of the department, to conclude academic agreements and memoranda between higher educational institutions.

In the activities of the new administration, priority is given to wide use of "soft power", public, cultural and sports diplomacy.

From July 1, 2022, Anvar Abdurahimovich Abdukhalimov will be appointed head of the Department, concurrently being an adviser to the minister on improving the efficiency of spiritual and educational work, ensuring compliance with the legislation on the state language.
