Discussion on effectiveness of the oil and gas sector

On May 24, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting to canvass issues related to the extraction of oil and gas and the expansion of production.

The Development Strategy of the country sets goals for the liberalization of the economy and the transformation of leading industries. In particular, the transformation process has begun in the oil and gas sector.

At the meeting, the President first of all focused on this issue and stressed the need to accelerate this process. The task is to involve international consultants, define strategic approaches, and ensure transparency of accounting mechanisms in the oil and gas sector.

Measures have been identified to enhance the financial health of enterprises, reduce costs by increasing operational efficiency, and organize the management system on the basis of best international practices.

The President gave specific instructions to the leaders of the sector to ensure uninterrupted supply of fuel and energy to the population and businesses.

Fully automated system for monitoring and accounting of natural gas consumption has been fully implemented, and measures have been taken to eliminate losses. The importance of saving resources now and encouraging the use of alternative energy was highlighted.
