Discussion on the main directions of accentuating the Uzbek-Azerbaijani economic partnership

On June 20, 2022, Sardor Umurzakov, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, met with Mikail Jabborov, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The event was also attended by heads of key ministries and departments of the two countries.
During the meeting, parties discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation in the scopes of investment, trade, transport and logistics.
Investment cooperation and industrial cooperation were considered as one of the priorities of the relationship. Currently, there are 238 Uzbek companies with Azerbaijani capital in Uzbekistan and 53 in Azerbaijan.
Based on the experience gained in the successful establishment of joint ventures in the two countries, both sides expressed their interest in proliferating the number of joint investment projects in the textile, leather, electrical, food, chemical and silk, automotive and construction materials industries.
Establishment of direct contacts between the territories of the two countries was in the discussion list, too. Prospects for the signing of an intergovernmental agreement on interregional cooperation were considered.
At the end of the event, the parties expressed their commitment to further expand collaboration in order to promote the agreements reached and develop new areas of bilateral relations.
