EU member states may switch to fully electric cars from 2035

It is reported that EU member states may prohibit the sale and registration of new cars with internal combustion engines on their territory after 13 years. It is noted that this decision was approved by the European Commission and the European Parliament.

At the same time, a number of major automakers, in particular Volkswagen, Jaguar, Ford, Bentley Motors, Peugeot, Citroen and Fiat announced that by that time, perhaps even earlier, they will leave only electric cars in their European lines.

But this does not mean that the leading concerns will give up traditional production of cars for other regions.

It is noted that in addition to a complete ban on the sale of new cars with gasoline and diesel engines from 2035, EU countries have agreed to introduce stricter standards of CO2 emissions. By 2030, it was decided to reduce them by 55 percent instead of 37.5 percent compared to 2021 levels.
