Exchange of Notes and Grants Agreement signed for the amount of about 400 000 dollars

On November 15 of the current year at the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan the ceremony of signing Exchange notes and Grant agreement with the Government of Japan on the project "Preservation and digitization of archives of cultural heritage of the Great Silk Road in the Republic of Uzbekistan" in the amount of about 400 thousand dollars took place.

In his welcoming speech, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of investments and foreign trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Hodjaev stressed the importance of works on preserving cultural heritage of the Great Silk Road, which connects the peoples and cultures of Japan and Uzbekistan since ancient times. The project is designed to promote conservation of unique cultural values discovered along the route of the Silk Road, to increase the efficiency of protection and conservation works, to make a great contribution to the cultural development of Uzbekistan and become a symbol of cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries.

The project, timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, is expected to introduce Japanese technologies and experience in preserving cultural heritage sites and objects to Uzbekistan.

In particular, the Agency for Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, the State History Museum of Uzbekistan and the Termez Archaeological Museum will receive equipment for the protection of collections and exhibits, as well as the necessary equipment for digital archiving, including 3D scanners, cameras for 360 degree photography and other equipment.
