Experts discuss priority areas for trade and economic development of the OTS

On November 8 this year ahead of the meeting of Economic and Trade Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), 13th meeting of expert group was held in Samarkand in hybrid format.

It was attended by experts from member states of the Organization in order to review current areas of trade and economic cooperation within the Organization, analyze possible options of its development, including in view of the key issues on the agenda of the forthcoming ministerial meeting.

In particular, the sides considered prospects of establishing OTS Investment Fund, taking measures to simplify trade procedures, approved of Uzbekistan's initiative to set up a Trade Cooperation Research Center and an Engineering and Technology Center within the Organization.

Constructive proposals on enhancing digitalization of economy and expanding e-commerce, developing and approving mechanisms and principles for organizing trading houses in the OTS member states and the concrete action plan of the Turkic Chamber of Commerce and Industry were voiced.

As a result of the meeting, the experts worked out clear and consistent mechanisms for implementation of the reviewed initiatives and formed a communiqué to be signed during the 11th meeting of the OTS economy and trade ministers to be held on November 9 this year.
