First meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Council to be held in Tashkent

Relations between the legislative bodies of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are intensifying. The first session of the Inter-Parliamentary Council will be held in Tashkent next year. Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced this at a media briefing.

The presidents also noted that during the talks much attention has been paid to the deepening of cultural and humanitarian cooperation.

This year, our two countries celebrated 30 years of diplomatic relations. In October, the Pearl Island exhibition was successfully held in Almaty, while in November and December the Youth Congress was successfully held in Astana.

These days in Uzbekistan, events dedicated to Abai Kunanbayev, the proud son of the Kazakh people, are being held.

"The immortal legacy of Abai is still of great importance to the peoples of our region, especially in the upbringing of the younger generation in the spirit of national and universal values," Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

An agreement has been reached to hold cultural days, joint film festivals and creative evenings of famous artists next year. This serves to bring our brotherly peoples closer, to reinforce our common historical roots.

The head of our state stressed that Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan will join efforts to ensure the development and prosperity of our region, which today is becoming the centre of global change.
