French company Alstom will build streetcar lines in Tashkent

An agreement on the Tashkent tramway system project was signed between the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Foreign Trade, Economic Attraction and Foreigners of France in the framework of the presidential visit to France. The cost of the project is estimated 167.4 million euros.
According to the agreement, the French company Alstom will build streetcar tracks in Tashkent. One of the lines may start from Dustlik metro station and run along Novy Uzbekistan Street.
According to the investment agreement, the company will build 9.1 km of streetcar lines. The daily passenger traffic is expected to reach 78 thousand people. It is also planned that the construction works will start in the first quarter of 2024.
