President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Samarkand on August 23 to participate in the opening ceremony of the international tourism center “Great Silk Road”.
In the courtyard of the “Eternal City” complex, which is located in the center, there was a sincere conversation with the elderly and intellectuals from Samarkand. These structures were blessed, wishing that they would be blessed, that there would be many such good things.
After that, the solemn opening ceremony of the international tourism center “Great Silk Road” took place. In it, the head of our state made a speech and congratulated everyone on this joyful event.
"This complex, built with the intelligence and selfless work of our people, was another significant, triumphant result on the way to the establishment of New Uzbekistan. Blessed be all of us, all our people, such a modern, majestic architectural complex, erected in the bosom of ancient and Noble Samarkand,” said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
In 2019, on the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a large ambitious project was started - the construction of a huge complex on a 212-acre site on the banks of the rowing canal in the Samarkand district. First of all, an international team of experienced architects and engineers was involved and a thorough project was developed. The head of our state came here several times and improved the construction in terms of our national architectural traditions and the convenience of people. Together with our qualified builders, mature specialists from such countries as Turkiye, Great Britain, Italy took part in the creative work.
This multidisciplinary center contains 8 modern hotels, Congress Hall, The “Immortal City” complex, an amphitheater and many other structures. It can serve up to 2 million tourists a year.
"This huge center is worthy of the magnificent architectural monuments built by our great ancestors and continues their historical traditions. I believe that this complex will be a symbolic bridge between the third Renaissance and the previous historical periods, the foundation of which is currently under construction in our country,” the President stressed.
