Hokim of Navoi region approved

Extraordinary session of Navoi regional Council of people's deputies was held in the city of Navoi.
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in it.
At the beginning of his speech, the head of the state expressed his deep respect to the inhabitants of the region and proposed to hold the session in the form of open dialogue.
"Our biggest objective at today's meeting is to openly exchange views. We need to find solutions to issues that concern 330 mahallas, 1 million 50 thousand residents of Navoi region.
Distinguished deputies, representatives of the older generation and young people, you will do me a favour if you tell me what worries you, what problems exist on the ground. If we, in consultation with our people, find a solution to all issues, there will definitely be a result," Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
The current state of development of Navoi region was analyzed during the conversation. Major industrial projects worth $2 billion have been launched in the region in the last three years. Thus more than 10 thousand new jobs have been created, additional 1 trillion sums of tax revenues and $100 million of exports per year have been secured.
It was noted that the region has great reserves and opportunities for further development of the economy. For example, imported products can be produced by local entrepreneurs on the basis of cooperation. In agriculture, the livestock industry is not fully utilized. There are few storage facilities for fruits and vegetables. There are problems of concern to the population and in the social sphere.
The meeting considered the organizational issue. The President recommended Normat Tursunov's candidacy for the post of Hokim of Navoi region.
N. Tursunov was born in 1972 in Tashkent region. For many years he worked in the state tax system. Since November 2021, he has been acting as the Hokim of Navoi region.
Before the start of the discussion on the candidacy, the head of state offered to hear the program of the candidate. Normat Tursunov made a presentation of his plans to develop entrepreneurship, industry and agriculture in the region, as well as to create decent living conditions for the population.
The President approved these proposals and identified measures for their implementation.
In order to develop entrepreneurship in the next year task was set to create 26 local industrial centers and small industrial zones, to allocate 600 billion soums for programs of family entrepreneurship. It was underlined that Navoi region as a whole has all opportunities to become the region without poverty and unemployment.
Next year, 186 projects to create 15,000 jobs will be implemented in the industrial sector. It will be an important factor in reducing imports and increasing exports to $250 million.
There are 72 mahallas in Khatirchi, Karmana, Navbahor, Kiziltepa and Nurota districts specializing in growing potatoes, vegetables, grapes and pomegranates. The head of the state stressed the need to improve the water supply on 5,000 hectares around these mahallas.
Instructions were also given to create pasture seed farms, ferula plantations and agro-logistic centers.
Particular attention is paid to development of social sphere, construction of schools and kindergartens, providing the population with housing and drinking water. In general, in 2023 year 655 billion sums will be allocated additionally for solution of social problems in the region and 750 billion sums for development of family business.
After the presentation, members of the regional council discussed plans of the candidate and expressed their opinions. Question of appointment of hokim of Navoi region was put to vote. According to its results, Normat Tursunov was approved as hokim of Navoi region.
Head of our state underlined that the plans voiced at the meeting must be effectively implemented, all agencies must unite around the hokim and serve the people.
