Hungary-Uzbekistan: Bilateral political consultations between foreign ministries

Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov held a practical meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Péter Szijjártó on October 4.
The Foreign Ministers discussed in detail the programme and agenda of talks within the official visit of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Hungary, reviewed the current state of relations between the two countries and prospects of cooperation.
The ministers agreed on the importance of holding regular bilateral political consultations between foreign ministries, enriching the programme of interagency cooperation until 2023 with qualitative content.
The signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Information and Analytical Centre of International Relations under the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan and the Institute of Foreign Relations and Trade under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary is a striking confirmation of this.
Active economic diplomacy through the implementation of joint projects in automotive, pharmaceutical, construction, agriculture, tourism and other spheres of interest for the two sides was stressed as well.
The Ministers considered proposals to intensify the inter-parliamentary dialogue, strengthen ties in the field of education, including through the Stipendium Hungaricum programme. Particular attention was paid to deepening co-operation within international and regional organisations, in particular the UN, the OSCE and the TDT.
