Individuals in Uzbekistan have bought $9 billion worth of foreign currency since the beginning of the year

The volume of purchases of foreign currency in the range of $500-$1000 has increased almost tenfold.
Since the beginning of the year, the Uzbek people have bought $9 billion of foreign currency. This is reported by the Central Bank of the country.
Most of the purchases of foreign currency were of $1 thousand or more. The peak was seen in March of this year, when the Uzbeks sent more than $653 million per month, and $4 million since the beginning of the year. The share of purchases of foreign currency up to $100 for the nine months was 550 million.
The sharpest growth is noted in the purchase of foreign currency in the range of $500-$1 thousand. The figure increased by almost 10 times. For example, in January the Uzbeks bought currency in this range by $27.6 million, and in September the figure was 254 million sums.
