Information on major railway projects presented

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was reported on the current state and future plans for implementation of major regional railway infrastructure projects.

It is very important for our country to diversify transport routes for quick and unhindered access to world markets. The head of our state constantly raises this issue at international events and initiates practical solutions. Thanks to the agreements reached with foreign partners, the work on projects is being expedited.

One of them is the construction of 454-kilometer Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan-China railway. As is known, a trilateral Memorandum of Understanding on this project was signed in Samarkand on 14 September. In November, field studies were conducted by the First Design and Research Institute of China.

During the report, the officials in charge outlined the planned work. In particular, a project office will be established in Bishkek. The forms and procedures for project management are being discussed. Negotiations with international financial institutions will be conducted. In general, a feasibility study of the project is planned to be prepared by June 1.

Another regional project is Termez - Mazar-e-Sharif - Kabul - Peshawar railway. There has also been significant progress on it, despite the difficult situation in Afghanistan.

In particular, a research expedition was organised this summer from the city of Mazar-e-Sharif in Afghanistan to the city of Torkham in Pakistan.

It was noted that the project planned to build 765 kilometres of railways. Next year, it is planned to set up a project office, engage an international consulting company and hold talks with investors. Following the results, a feasibility study for the project will be prepared.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved those plans and ordered the development of road maps in cooperation with partner countries.

The construction of these rail lines will diversify transport communications and multiply Uzbekistan's logistics capabilities.
