International Scientific and Practical Conference "Opportunities and Risks in Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in Central Asia under COVID-19 pandemic conditions"

On May 21, 2021, an international scientific and practical conference was held on the topic: "Opportunities and risks in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in Central Asia in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic", organized by the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED).

First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis S. Safoev, Rector of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy K. Karimov, UNDP Resident Representative in Uzbekistan M. Dimovska made a welcoming speech at the event.

 

The issues of ensuring economic growth, reducing poverty and inequality, strengthening social protection, aspects of international cooperation, threats and opportunities in achieving the SDGs in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, and others were considered during the conference.

 

The conference participants noted that this is a good opportunity to take a big step forward, cooperating in common interests. Also, the UNDP Resident Representative noted the importance of using modern technologies and paying great attention to ecology and nature protection.
