IPA CIS Expert Council Meeting - RCC takes place in Samarkand

The City of Samarkand hosted the 24th meeting of the CIS IPA and RCC Expert Council on October 25. Issues related to the digitalization of elections, development of digital trade, legal regulation of digital economy in general were discussed at the event.

The meeting was led by Sherzod Shermatov, Chairman of the Expert Council, Minister of Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Lyudmila Tereshchenko, Chief Researcher at the Department of Administrative Law and Procedure of the Institute of Legislation and Comparative Law under the Government of the Russian Federation, presented her colleagues with current areas of legal regulation in the digital economy.

Ivan Mushket, Deputy Head of the Secretariat of the IPA CIS Council, Director of the International Institute for Monitoring Democracy Development of the IPA CIS, and Makhsum Makhmudov, Member of the IPA CIS Expert Council - RCC, Director of UNICON.UZ, told about the application of electronic voting technologies at the meeting of the Expert Council.

Proposals of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly's Expert Council on Economy for developing e-commerce were also considered.

The participants of the meeting got acquainted with the work of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly on creation of model laws in the field of digital development of society that will be later on offered to the national parliaments of the Commonwealth countries.

The meeting of the Expert Council opened the autumn session of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, which is being held in Uzbekistan for the first time.

On October 27-28, session of CIS IPA Council and 54th plenary session of CIS IPA will be held in Samarkand, as well as meetings of permanent commissions of the Assembly and CIS Youth Interparliamentary Assembly.

Heads and members of parliamentary delegations of IPA CIS member countries, as well as representatives of international organizations, scientists and experts will take part in the events.
