Issues of improving energy supply considered

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on <span style="color: rgb(23, 43, 77); font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, " segoe="" ui",="" roboto,="" "noto="" sans",="" ubuntu,="" "droid="" "helvetica="" neue",="" sans-serif;="" font-size:="" 14px;"="">January 19 on improvement of energy supply and familiarized himself with presentation of plans on hydropower industry.

In the process of development of our country's energy system, all kinds of energy are used. Along with expansion of existing capacities new solar, wind and hydroelectric power stations are being built.

In particular, in recent years, 27 projects worth 500 million dollars have been implemented in the hydropower sector and 260 additional megawatts of generating capacity has been created. The total capacity of stations in the Uzbekhydroenergo system has exceeded 2 thousand megawatts. This means annual saving of 2 billion cubic meters of natural gas.

This year it is planned to put into operation seven objects and 10 micro hydroelectric power stations with capacity of 197 megawatts. Also the work will start on implementation of 8 perspective projects and construction of 50 micro hydro power plants with 438 megawatts capacity.

The President pointed out the high potential of the hydropower sector and instructed to substantially increase its capacities.

To this end, 250 perspective sites have been identified for the construction of micro HPPs. According to calculations, the future micro hydroelectric power stations will be able to produce 675 million kilowatt-hours of electricity and save 200 million cubic meters of gas per year.

Due to the favorable purchase prices of the electric power produced by microHPPs, the interest of businessmen in this sphere has increased. In this connection, the President mentioned the possibility of selling solar and wind energy at an attractive price.

The task has been set to build hybrid, i.e. wind- and solar-powered power plants on vacant lots around hydroelectric power plants. Thanks to the existing infrastructure, the cost of building such stations will be low.

The head of the state also touched upon the issue of localization in the industry. The Joint Stock Company "Suvsanoatmash" will produce equipment for micro HPPs as well as hydroelectric units in the Tashkent region.

Special attention was paid to digitalization of reservoirs management and staff development.

At the meeting the measures for stable provision of the population with energy were discussed. The President stressed the need to use all available reserves and not to let new and promising projects be implemented on time.

The tasks of increasing daily energy generation in conditions of energy shortage, fair and efficient distribution of resources, systematic delivery of energy to places and prompt elimination of outages were defined.
