Japan - Uzbekistan: expansion of democratic foundations in the system of public administration

On August 1 of this year, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Jamshid Khodjaev met with Keiji Furuya, a member of the Japanese House of Representatives (lower house of the Parliament).

During the negotiations, the parties discussed current issues of mutual cooperation and prospects for its expansion. The Uzbek side expressed its readiness to continue close cooperation with the Japanese parliament in order to fully implement all previously reached agreements and to give unique activity and enthusiasm to inter-country relations.

The important role of legislative bodies in ensuring the high level of relations between the two countries and its positive impact on economic and social development was noted. In this regard, the parties expressed their readiness to consistently expand parliamentary diplomacy by intensifying the activities of the Friendship League of the Japanese Parliament and the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Group.

At the end of the negotiations, the parties agreed on the importance of sharing experience on expanding the democratic foundations in the public administration system, implementing parliamentary control over executive authorities, and improving the legal framework regulating business and investor relations, among other areas.
