JICA: cooperation to increase the investment attractiveness of Uzbekistan

On August 29 this year, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan - Minister of investments and foreign trade Jamshid Khodjaev received a delegation led by Keiichiro Nakazawa, senior vice president of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss the prospects for bilateral cooperation in the implementation of strategically important and socially significant projects.
The Japanese side expressed gratitude for the consistent development of investment cooperation with Uzbekistan and the contribution to the socio-economic development of our country in recent years. Thanks to mutual trust and strong ties, it was noted that currently, with the support of JICA, 13 projects worth 4.7 billion dollars are being implemented in our country.
During the conversation, the parties paid special attention to priority initiatives in the field of Agriculture for Uzbekistan and discussed the process of implementing projects.
At the end of the negotiations, a ceremony was held to sign exchange notes and a debt agreement on the allocation of an additional $ 200 million within the framework of the second phase of the credit line "development of the creation of a value-added chain in the fruit and vegetable sector (Phase 2)". This project provides for the allocation of a credit line to local commercial banks in order to increase the financial stability of representatives of farms and related organizations, small businesses and private entrepreneurship.
