Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kazakh President, has signed a decree resigning the government

"The resignation of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan should be accepted. Smailov Alikhon Askhanovich will be acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan” - the decree highlights.
It was noted that members of the government have been instructed to continue in office until the new cabinet is approved.
Alikhon Smoilov is currently the First Deputy Prime Minister. The previous government was approved in January last year after elections to the lower house of parliament. Meanwhile, Askar Mamin was reappointed head of the Cabinet who has been in this position since February 2019.
Also on Wednesday, Krimbek Kusherbayev was relieved of his post as Secretary of State and his former assistant, Yerlan Karin, was appointed.
"Karin Yerlan Tinimbayuli should be appointed Secretary of State of the Republic of Kazakhstan and relieved of his post as Assistant to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan," the presidential decree reads.
Yerlan Karin had previously served as an adviser to the head of state.
The Kazakh president has also appointed Murad Nurtleu, a former deputy head of his administration, as the first deputy chairman of the republic's National Security Committee.
"Nurtleu Murat Abugalievich has been designated First Deputy Chairman of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan" - the presidential decree notes.
