Macroeconomy of Uzbekistan showed GDP growth in the 1st quarter of 2021

On May 12, President Shavkat Miromonovich Mirziyoyev held a video conference on the macroeconomic state of the priorities of economic growth in regions and industries in the first half of the year.

It was noted that due to the support provided to the sectors of the economy and entrepreneurs, economic stability, production indicators were achieved and jobs were saved despite the pandemic difficulties.

In particular, in the first quarter, GDP grew by 3%, industry - by 3.8%, agriculture - by 3.1%. Compared to the forecast, state budget revenues increased by 1.9 trillion soums (5.7 percent), including tax revenues - by 1.5 trillion soums (6.1 percent).

Exports in January-April amounted to $ 3.2 billion (17% more than the forecast).

At the same time, the projected rate of economic growth of 5.1 percent for the current year is well below the regional and sectoral potential.
