Macron unveiled a plan to reform the Schengen area

During the presidency of the Council of the European Union (starting January 1, 2022 and lasting 6 months), France intends to commence reforming the Schengen area which was announced by President Emmanuel Macron.

"In short, the purpose of the EU presidency is to make Europe more sovereign. Within its borders, Europe may be fully independent of partnering with a world power and determine its own destiny" pointed out Emmanuel Macron.

He claims that Paris will initiate reforming the Schengen region in two areas. "First, there will be the political administration of the Schengen region, for which a separate organization will be established, and for which special ministers would meet on a regular basis, like in the Eurozone," remarked Emmanuel Macron.
