Measures for the development of the island region were discussed

On August 2 of this year, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Jamshid Khodjaev met with Roli Astkhana, the permanent coordinator of the UN in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

During the conversation, cooperation in the implementation of projects aimed at improving the standard of living in the Aral Sea region, as well as the prospects for developing cooperation within the framework of the UN Multilateral Partnership Trust Fund for Human Security for the Aral Sea region were discussed.

In particular, the parties agreed to implement the decision of the UN General Assembly "Declaring the Aral Bay region a zone of ecological innovations and technologies" on ensuring the ecological balance and socio-economic development of the Aral Bay region. reviewed the implementation process of the multilateral "Road Map". The document contains 14 priority areas and 230 project proposals, the total cost of which is 210 million US dollars.

The parties discussed the importance of attracting more investments to the region and the prospects of expanding the activities of the Trust Fund. To date, within the framework of the fund's strategy, about 244 million dollars have been attracted to finance various projects in accordance with the priorities of socio-economic development of the Aral Bay region.

In addition, 5 joint programs were financed by the fund, which in turn had a positive effect on improving the quality of life of 48,000 residents of Karakalpakstan.
