Measures to prevent diseases discussed

On December 12, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on the development of the field of phthisiatrics and pulmonology, prevention of AIDS disease.

By the decision of the head of state on February 13, 2019, measures were adopted to improve the system of providing assistance to phthisiatrics and pulmonology. This gave a significant result, the total number of patients decreased to 2 thousand. The new incidence was reduced by 10 percent and the mortality rate by 17 percent.

But in recent years, due to the coronavirus epidemic, the number of dispensary-controlled patients with lung diseases in our country has increased by 18%. Although there is a demand for 5 different high-tech surgeries on tuberculosis in the regions, these services are fully established only in Tashkent and Nukus.

Cases of infection with the human immunodeficiency virus are also, unfortunately, increasing. This is especially relevant in the Tashkent City, Andijan and Samarkand regions. Therefore, the next measures in these two areas were discussed with the participation of experts at the meeting.

From next year, the president of our country organized mobile brigades “lung health” and gave an assignment to conduct screening examinations for children in remote areas.

It was noted that it is necessary to carry out molecular-genetic diagnostics of tuberculosis infection, to identify patients with latent infection and to increase the coverage of preventive treatment. The regional governors were instructed to repair and equip the phthisiatric sanctuaries in the regions, to organize bacteriology laboratories.

The Ministry of health was given the task of providing patients with tuberculosis with medicines free of charge. This will be allocated 40 billion soums from the state budget. Measures have also been established to cover 3 million inhabitants by expanding the investigation into HIV infection. Such patients also provided free of charge with 22 types of antiviral drugs.

Those responsible for repairing the regional AIDS Center and inter-district laboratories, equipping them with modern medical equipment were attached. The importance of improving the qualifications of employees of the primary link in medicine for HIV infection, strengthening explanatory work on the disease and its consequences among the population was noted.

Taking all this into account, the task was set to develop projects of software decisions in the field of phthisiatrics, pulmonology and AIDS.
