Microsoft to buy 4% stake in London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) in Cloud Deal

Microsoft will buy a 4 percent stake in the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) in a 10-year commercial deal. The partnership is based on a digital transformation of LSEG's technology infrastructure and Refinitiv platforms into the Microsoft Cloud, the company said.

As part of the agreement, LSEG committed to contracting with Microsoft for cloud services worth at least $2.8 billion over the life of the partnership.

But this deepening of ties has raised concerns among regulators that financial firms are too reliant on a small number of cloud providers. That's because if one provider goes down, the entire sector could be disrupted.
