Minister of Innovative Development took part in the Planet Budapest International Summit - 2021

The Minister of Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan, academician Ibrokhim Abdurakhmanov took part in the international conference "Planet Budapest - 2021" on November 30, which is taking place in the capital of Hungary, Budapest.

At the World Sustainable Development Summit, organized within the framework of this international conference at the Hungexpo exhibition center, heads of state and government, senior government officials, international experts, representatives of the scientific community and business discussed sustainable development issues.

The summit was opened with congratulatory speeches by the Presidents of Hungary, Poland and Slovakia, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, Secretary General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development Matthias Corman. This was followed by three thematic sessions on post-pandemic peace, climate change and the circular economy.

At the panel session "environmental change - from risk to opportunity" in the framework of the event, I. Abdurakhmanov made a speech. The minister spoke about the changes in the environment, problems and risks arising in this area, and gave information about the work carried out in Uzbekistan to overcome environmental problems. At the same time, issues of forecasting, mitigating and turning emerging climate risks into opportunities were discussed.

Speaking about the fact that on May 18, 2021, at the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly, a special resolution was adopted on transforming the Aral Sea region into a region of environmental innovations and technologies, the minister noted that today Uzbekistan has identified 7 directions for transforming the Aral Sea region. to the region of environmental innovation and technology. Speaking about the implementation of 65 priority innovative projects in these areas, he especially dwelled on some of them.
