Monthly prepayment requirement for electricity consumption by textile companies to be abolished

Presidential Decree "On Measures to Support the Activities of Cotton and Textile Clusters, Fundamental Reforms in the Textile and Clothing and Knitwear Industry, Further Enhancing the Export Potential of the Industry" has been passed.
Under the decree, US $200 million will be allocated for 3 years at an annual interest rate of 4 percent to finance enterprises exporting gauze, knitted fabric, and ready-made garment and knitwear products.
The requirement of monthly prepayment of electricity consumption for textile and garment and knitwear enterprises will be abolished.
Measures will be taken to attract funds of foreign financial organizations in the amount of 500 million US dollars for 2 years till April 1, 2023, in order to provide working capital for enterprises of the sector.
Textile and garment enterprises will be allowed to transfer abroad up to $100,000 per year without separate decisions to set up a trading house and a warehouse abroad.
By the end of the year, small industrial zones for textile production will be established in Andijan, Namangan and Kashkadarya regions, and an industrial technopark for deep processing of textile and leather products will be established in Tashkent region.
Until 1 April 2023, pilot projects will be implemented to train specialists in the dual education system and to introduce foreign (Germany, Turkey) educational programmes for in-demand professional occupations (tailor, reaper, spinner and locksmith). is being implemented in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Khorezm and Namangan provinces.
From the academic year 2023/2024, the Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry will develop joint educational programmes to train specialists (engineers, technologists, designers, marketers) who are in demand in the textile industry.
