More than 30 documents are expected to be signed at the SCO summit — Sherzod Asadov

The 22nd meeting of the Council of heads of states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which will be held in Samarkand on September 15-16, is the most important political event not only of the week, but of the whole year. This was announced by the press secretary of the president of Uzbekistan Sherzod Asadov at a traditional briefing on Monday
The event will be attended by heads of state and government of 8 member countries — Uzbekistan, Russia, China, India, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, 3 observer countries — Belarus, Iran, Mongolia and 4 invited countries — Turkiye, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Armenia.
The heads of international and regional organizations such as the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESKATO), UNESCO, CIS, Collective Security Treaty Organization, Eurasian Economic Union, Organization for Economic Cooperation, League of Arab states, council for cooperation and trust measures in Asia are also invited to participate in the summit.
First there will be a meeting of the leaders of the member states of the organization in a narrow circle, then an extended meeting with the participation of all delegations. At the same time, bilateral meetings are also envisaged within the framework of the summit.
"As a result of the large-scale measures, it is planned to provide more than 30 documents for signing at the upcoming summit. Undoubtedly, one of the main goals of the Samarkand summit is the further expansion of the SCO family. Within the framework of the Council of heads of State, a memorandum on the obligations of the Islamic Republic of Iran is expected to be signed to obtain the status of membership in the SCO," the official representative of the leader of Uzbekistan noted.
