«Mosque attendants are ambassadors of humanity» program

The General Directorate for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques of Saudi Arabia launched the program "Mosque attendants - ambassadors of humanity" in connection with the UN "World Humanitarian Day". The program aims to honor the volunteers who help the elderly and the disabled to perform their prayers in the two holy mosques of Makkah and Madinah and elsewhere.
Usually, such volunteers deliver wheelchairs for pilgrims free of charge and participate in the distribution of iftar every Monday-Thursday.
Sheikh Khalid bin Fahad al-Shalawi, the Department's representative for social, volunteer and humanitarian affairs, said Saudi Arabia is “Celebrating World Humanitarian Aid Day” to pay homage to workers and volunteers who risk their lives to help those in need around the world.
It also increases the awareness of young people and encourages them to get involved in relief work, he says.
