Multilateral cooperation between the OTS and Uzbekistan

On October 25 this year Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khojaev met with the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) Baghdad Amreyev.

The sides exchanged views on topical issues of bilateral cooperation and prospects of further interaction in priority directions.

The sides discussed issues related to preparation of big events within the Council, keeping in mind the first Summit of Turkic States and the 11th Economic and Trade Ministers' Meeting to be held in Samarkand in November. An agreement has been reached to intensify interaction with a view to holding the events at high organizational and substantive levels.

Prospects of further expansion of partnership in trade, investment and financial spheres within the framework of the Organization have been considered. The parties expressed mutual interest in accelerating the process of signing the Agreement on establishment of the Joint Investment Fund and its location in Tashkent.

Concrete steps have been outlined to materialize the initiatives on setting up a "Research Centre for Trade Cooperation in Turkic Countries" and an "Engineering and Technology Centre". The parties stressed the importance of implementing these initiatives to further strengthen trade, economic and investment ties between the OTS member states.

As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed on further practical measures for timely implementation of the agreements reached and high-level initiatives, and expressed readiness to strengthen Uzbekistan's multifaceted cooperation with the Organization.
