Neurological diseases cause the death of 9 million patients per year – WHO

The World Health Organization (WHO) published its next report on ensuring the health of the human brain. It is quoted that one in three people around the world develops certain types of Neurological Disorders at some point in their lives.

The worrying aspect is that this condition is the most basic factor that causes disability. In addition, it is noted in second place among the causes leading to early death. For example, it has been calculated that about nine million people lose their lives every year in the world due to stroke, migraine, dementia and meningitis.

According to data, 43% of children under 5 years of age in low-and middle-income countries, that is, about 250 million boys and girls, are deprived of the opportunity to develop their mental potential.

In this sense, the aforementioned report of The WHO gives impetus to a more in-depth study of the functioning of this organ and global efforts to combat epilepsy and other neurological diseases.

The document lists five main groups of factors affecting brain health:

health;
healthy environment;
safe environment;
education and social relations;
the possibility of using quality services.
According to the WHO, a balanced combination of these factors serves to prevent many neurological and psychiatric diseases, in addition, to drastically reduce the consumption of psychotropic substances.
