New heads of the «Taliban» included in the UN sanctions list
Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund – the new head of the Taliban interim government in Afghanistan has been included in the UN sanctions list.
A native of Kandahar, the cradle of the Taliban, Akhund is considered one of the most loyal to the movement. He held ministerial posts in the late 90s in the territories controlled by the «Taliban», he has on the balance-the destruction of the oldest Buddhist statues, UNESCO monuments.
The newly minted «Taliban» Interior Minister Sirajuddian Haqqani was put on the wanted list in the United States as a dangerous terrorist 10 years ago, the FBI offers $ 5 million for help in his capture. With the capture of Kabul this summer, Haqqani headed the security service there, he is also known for calling on Afghans fleeing the country to «stay and not be afraid of the new government».
The leaders of the Taliban emphasize that the composition of the government announced yesterday will be finalized. Zabihullah Mujahid, a spokesman for the movement, recalled: «We did not make a statement on all government structures. Some positions in ministries, directorships, and deputy posts remain vacant. Efforts are currently being made to fill them out. We are also trying to attract people from the regions so that they can play their role in creating a new government».
