New Law on Standardisation adopted

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan has signed the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Standardisation. The main objectives of standardization are the protection of life, health of citizens and their property, and the protection of the environment.
According to the law, the National Standardisation System of the Republic of Uzbekistan consists of:
The Uzbek Agency for Technical Regulation under the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade;
The National Standardization Body;
State and economic administrative bodies;
Technical committees for standardization.
The standardisation plan may be adopted for the following time horizons
on a short-term (up to 1 year);
In the medium term (1 to 5 years);
Long term (5 to 10 years).
A unified information base of standards is formed and maintained by the National Standardisation Body.
The categories of standards are:
national standards;
international (regional) standards;
foreign standards.
The Law shall enter into force in 12 months from the date of its official publication.
